Quicks 101: Tips to keep your car on the road.

At Quicks we care about you and your cars that’s why we have put together a guide to help you drive safely and keep your car in tip top condition. (Yes we know we’re too kind).

1. Conduct a weekly inspection of your tyres

Have a little inspection at the condition of your car tyres at least once a week to keep you safe on the road. The minimum tread depth is 3mm, we would recommend you change your tyres when it gets to this depth. Afterall all we want is you to be safe.

2. Regularly check your car's oil and other fluid levels

This includes your car's engine oil, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, coolant and power steering fluid, it's surprising how much fluid is in your car isn't it? This simple check will keep you from spending too much on repairs and will help keep the vehicle running smoothly. Have a gander at your manual for recommended levels of these fluids for better engine performance.  Take a look at our Value Service to cover all of this.

3. Have your oil and filter changed for every 3,000 miles

To make sure you are not running a faulty or dodgy engine, change your oil and your filter regularly. We recommend that oil and filter changes for diesel engines should occur every 6 months or every 3,000 miles, while petrol engines can have it every 7,500 miles or annually.  Take a look at our Value Service to cover all of this.

4. Take notice of the warning lights on your dashboard

It's a simple statement but how often have you ignored that red light on your dash and thought 'Oh that will go away' well here's abit of news, it won't go away and a red light can only mean one thing 'Urgent'

5. Check window wipers at least twice a year

We all take our windscreen wipers for granted, they get us through the snow and rain but if they fail it can be very dangerous. Just give them a quick once over every now again to make sure they are in tip top condition.

Happy and safe driving.
